In 2013, after 18 years of experience as a coach, Carlo Ancelotti thought he had gained enough experience to write a book. He had already written a previous one called ‘Preferisco la Coppa’, but in this case he reveals all the crucial aspects of the life of a team from the perspective of a coach, including complete coaching and tactic analysis. Hence the title: “My Christmas Tree”, referring to one of his favourite strategies (4-3-2-1) with which he won all titles as the Milan coach in the first decade of the XXI century.??
Written in collaboration with Giorgio Ciaschini, the book explains how to generate harmony among the players, the coach and the whole club, being one of the most important ways to achieve world class success. “The creation of a strong and united group depends above all on the relation the coach establishes between himself and his athletes, as well as between themselves,” says Ancelotti.?
?In addition, Ancelotti recounts his “Ten matches for history” , from the beginning of his career in Reggiana in 1995 to the victory against Liverpool in the 2007 Champions League Final, revealing some tactics that had previously been secret.??
Ancelotti explains his succesful method, respecting and understanding each club’s philosophy, its atmosphere, each country’s type of coach and the details that invite success. As he says: "The larger the professional history, the more you realize that you and your team aren’t playing against your rival, but your destiny as well".
