Stefano Borgonovo has been one of the most important people in Carlo Ancelotti's life. Team-mates and close friends since those glorious days at Sacchi´s AC Milan, the passing of Stefano last June, due to a degenerative disease, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is hard to accept for the Italian coach. “He was a fantastic friend, an exceptional person. He made me laugh and he loved football as much as he loved life… I really miss him“, commented Ancelotti, visibly touched, who is determined to help anyone suffering the same disease as his friend through the Borgonovo Fundation.??
Ancelotti wants to make his voice heard in the world of football to help the people in need. He believes in giving "unconditional support to the Borgonovo Fundation to help spread its message around the world. I identify with its values and message which is why I want it to be heard not just in Italy, in the whole world".??
Ancelotti's support is been always active. He donated all the money raised from his biography published in 2010 to the Borgonovo Foundation to make possible further investigation with ELA. This disease has taken the life of 39 Italian football players.
??On 27 June, the day Borgonovo passed away, Ancelotti published this message: "Thanks for being an example to all of us. Farewell Stefano, my friend".
